‘In practically every one of our concerts, given the length of three continents over the last twenty years, Peter Pears and I have included a group of Purcell’s songs.’ Britten, 1959.
Programme for the ISCM Festival in Florence, 1934.
The archive maintains an extensive collection of programmes, from about 1900 to the present day, of concerts and opera performances in the UK and abroad.
Most of these are for performances of Britten works and programmes for concert and stage performances involving Britten or Pears. Programmes for the Aldeburgh Festival of Music and the Arts, and other concerts and events held in Aldeburgh and Snape Maltings Concert Hall, have been comprehensively collected.
Programmes for performances by Britten or Pears that are not already held in the collection are acquired whenever possible.
Cataloguing is still in progress for our performance collections, however the online catalogue currently includes records up to the 1960s. Just follow the link to the archive catalogue from this page and type PG in the 'RefNo' field.
