Local grants
Supporting grassroots projects within 20 miles of Aldeburgh.

The BPF local community grants scheme supports activities that promote the vitality of community life in Aldeburgh and its surrounding villages, especially Orford, Snape and Blythburgh. To date a total of
£35,055 has been awarded. Applications need not relate to music or the other arts, but are particularly welcome if they relate to one or more of the following:
- the involvement of young people;
- good environmental practice;
- activities broadly linked to the interests and work of Britten and/or Pears, including the environment and local amenities;
- activities linked directly or indirectly to the centenary, in 2013, of Britten's birth.
Grants are awarded on a one-off basis for specific projects, not to cover ongoing running costs. It is unlikely that successive grants will be made to the same organisation, or for any single project, within the space of two years. The scheme does not provide sponsorship or donate raffle prizes. The total amount awarded each year will be up to £10,000, distributed across two application rounds. It is very unlikely that any single award will exceed £2,500, and most grants are likely to be less than £1,000.
Who can apply?
The scheme is open to any non-commercial organisation operating within a 20 mile radius of Aldeburgh. Organisations based elsewhere may apply for specific projects that will be delivered within the target area. BPF is keen to encourage applications at grassroots level as well as from established organisations. Groups without a formal constitution or bank account may apply, but will have to explain how they work and who will be accountable for any grant awarded. Individuals and commercial organisations are not eligible to apply for grants.
How to apply
The application deadlines for the 2013 funding rounds are:
- 11 March 2013 (grants awarded May/June 2013)
- 1 August 2013 (grants awarded September/October 2013)
