BPF continues to support causes that were dear to Britten and Pears.

During their lifetimes Britten and Pears were generous supporters of various musical, local and pacifist causes. BPF's trustees continue to use income from our founders' estates to support a wide range of charitable giving.

The largest annual grant, currently £250,000 a year, goes to our sister-organisation, Aldeburgh Music, at Snape Maltings. In particular, our contribution supports the Britten—Pears Young Artist Programme there.

       We have three open grant schemes:

  • the Britten awards support performances of Britten works around the world, especially those with an audience-development aspect;
 
  • BPF commissions support the writing of new works by British and British-based composers;

  • our local community grants support projects within 20 miles of Aldeburgh.
