A vivid interpretation of a Brazilian town. Born in Rio de Janeiro where he lived and worked, Paulo studied law and philosophy but soon became interested in the fine arts. He was self-taught as an artist and in his youth was also regarded as a significant essayist, poet and dramatist of his generation. Oil on canvas: 22.2 x 27.2 cm. Framed: 38.8 x 43.8 cm.
