Description : This work is believed to be by Hertha von Gumppenberg, a pupil of Fritz H. Ehmcke, who was one of the most innovative book illustrators of his time. Gumppenberg was known for her individual designs, usually silhouettes and collages, to children’s books of fables and Märchen, not unlike some of the work carried out by Arthur Rackham in England.
