For Peter...
a centenary exhibition for Sir Peter Pears
The Red House, 12 June - 29 October 2010
Pears was born on 22 June 1910, and this year the Britten-Pears Foundation celebrates his centenary with a fascinating exhibition devoted to his life and work. It not only explores the extraordinary inspiration he gave to Britten, his life-long partner, but also reveals the many facets of the man beyond the muse.
As Myfanwy Piper put it: "Peter Pears's life was a celebration, a constant, positive response to enthusiasms: a journey, he wrote about it; a lobster, he ate it; a song, he sang it; a poem, he introduced it to Ben; a picture - he bought it."

Impressions:
new prints inspired by The Red House
The Red House, 6 - 30 April 2010
Sudbourne Park Printmakers are a diverse group of East Anglian artists who use the print facilities located deep in rural Suffolk at Bothy Yard, Sudbourne Park, near Orford. This April their etchings, woodcuts, monoprints and lithographs will form a memorable exhibition of entirely new prints celebrating the life of Peter Pears, and the art he collected.
The Red House continues to suggest the presence of both Britten and Pears, as if they might return at any moment. This sense of a ‘waiting presence' is a fascinating and stimulating environment in which the artists have allowed their imaginations full rein, producing a unique range of interesting prints.
